Vellard

Est. 1992

The
Maison

A single craftsman. Thirty years. One conviction.

Vellard leather

True quality
needs no
introduction.

In 1992, a young craftsman sat down at a sewing machine with a single belief: that leather, made properly, should outlast everything. No shortcuts. No trend cycles. Just the hide, the hand, and the time it takes to do it right.

For three decades, that conviction built something quiet and enduring. The world's most discerning buyers came to us — not because of what we said, but because of what they held in their hands.

In 2024, we gave it a name. Vellard — drawn from the French vellum, the finest parchment. A surface that carries the story of whoever touches it. We are now bringing that craft directly to you, under our own name, for the first time.

Three things we
will never compromise.

The Hide
I

The Hide

Every skin begins at a Leather Working Group certified tannery. We select full-grain lambskin by hand — assessing weight, softness, and grain before a single cut is made. Most hides don't make it through.

The Hand
II

The Hand

Our artisans have spent their working lives in leather. Each garment moves through a single pair of hands from cut to close — never divided across a production line. The result is a consistency that machines cannot replicate.

The Finish
III

The Finish

A Vellard garment is not finished when it looks right. It is finished when it feels right — when the seam lies flat without pulling, when the edge is hand-burnished, when the leather has been conditioned to move with the body it will be worn on.

Craftsmanship

Made by hand.
Worn for life.

Every Vellard garment passes through a single pair of hands from cut to close. No production line division. No shortcuts. Just the craftsman, the hide, and the time it takes to do it right.

The Hide

The Hide

We source exclusively from Leather Working Group certified tanneries. Every skin is selected by hand — assessed for grain structure, weight, softness, and colour consistency before a single cut is made. Hides that don't meet our standard are returned. This has been our process since 1992.

We use full-grain lambskin as our primary material — the highest grade of leather, never sanded or corrected. What you see and feel is the hide as it was, with all its natural character intact.

The Hand

The Hand

Our artisans have spent their working lives in leather. Each garment is assigned to a single craftsman who takes it from the cutting table to the final stitch. This is not common practice — most garment factories divide production across dozens of stations. We do not.

The result is accountability at every seam. The person who cut the leather is the same person who closes it. They know every stitch because they made every stitch.

The Finish

The Finish

A Vellard garment is not finished when it looks right. It is finished when it feels right — when the seam lies flat without pulling, when the edge is hand-burnished smooth, when the leather has been conditioned to move with the body it will be worn on.

Every garment passes through 47 individual quality checks before it leaves our atelier. This is not a marketing number. It is a checklist, signed off by hand, on every single piece.

Sustainability

Responsible
by design.

Sustainability, for us, is not a campaign. It is the way we have worked since the beginning — because making leather well and making it responsibly are not separate things. They are the same thing.

SMETA 4 Pillar

Our atelier is audited under the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit across all four pillars: Labour, Health & Safety, Environment, and Business Ethics. This is one of the most comprehensive ethical trade audits available, and we submit to it voluntarily.

Leather Working Group

Every hide we use is sourced from LWG Silver or Gold rated tanneries. This means full traceability from animal to finished skin, and independent verification of water usage, chemical management, and environmental impact at the tannery level.

ISO 9001:2015

Our quality management system is ISO 9001:2015 certified — meaning our processes, controls, and standards are independently verified to meet the international benchmark for consistency and quality. Every garment is traceable back through our production process.

GRS Certified Trims

The hardware, linings, and trims used in our garments are sourced from Global Recycled Standard certified suppliers wherever possible. We are committed to reducing virgin material use in every component of the garment, not just the leather.

Made to last.
Not to be replaced.

The most sustainable garment is one you never need to replace. A Vellard jacket, cared for properly, will outlast a decade of fast fashion purchases. We consider this the most important environmental position we hold: making things so well that the question of disposal never arises.

We are continuing to work toward greater transparency across our supply chain and will publish further detail as our reporting matures.

The Seven-Day
Return Window

We stand behind every garment we make. If, within seven days of receiving your order, you find that a piece is not right for you, we will arrange its return.

We ask only that the garment be returned as it was received — unworn, unaltered, with all original tags attached and in its original packaging. A piece that has been worn, altered, or shows signs of use cannot be accepted back.

Final sale pieces and any orders placed as custom or personalised commissions are excluded from our returns policy.

To begin a return, write to us at hello@maisonvellard.com within your seven-day window. We will respond with a return authorisation and full instructions. Parcels returned without prior authorisation will not be accepted.

Once your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed within 5–7 business days to your original payment method.

III

Exchanges

We are pleased to exchange any piece for a different size or colour, subject to availability. Exchanges are treated with the same care as original orders — dispatched within 2–3 business days of receiving the returned garment, at no additional cost.

To arrange an exchange, contact us at hello@maisonvellard.com.

IV

Our Discretion

Vellard reserves the right to cancel any order at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion. In such an event, you will be notified promptly and any payment received will be refunded in full within 5–7 business days.

In the rare event that you receive a damaged or incorrect piece, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at hello@maisonvellard.com with your order number and photographs. We will make it right.
